Overview
I led branding and design for the North Carolina Young Adult (NCYA) Conference, a two-day, one-night interdenominational gathering hosted by Hanmaum Church’s Korean & English Ministry. The church wanted to unite young adults from across the state — hoping every generation would find salvation in Jesus Christ, experience the joy of living for His Kingdom, and grow in the fellowship of His Church. My role was to translate that mission into a complete visual identity, creating a mascot, logo, and assets that were carried across posters, t-shirts, and the conference booklet.

THe challenge
The audience spanned diverse churches, groups, and stages of faith — from long-time believers to people just beginning their journey. The core challenge was to make every attendee feel they belonged under a slogan "United, We Rise", and stay coherent across the entire visual system.

To ground the visual direction, I researched and analyzed direct and indirect competitors, building a strong foundation.

I explored color palettes, typefaces, and various design styles with the intention of creating a sense of belonging — encouraging attendees to engage deeply, whether they were long-time believers or just beginning their faith journey.

I used a grid system to represent unity, paired with a warm, youthful palette and typefaces. The modern, minimal graphic style creates a welcoming atmosphere, carried consistently across the mascot, logo, posters, t-shirts, and booklet for one cohesive experience.

Outcome
This experience allowed me to advance my ability to translate the mission “United, We Rise” into a cohesive visual identity and design, ensuring every element aligned with NCYA’s goal of helping attendees feel connected and part of one community. The conference was a success, bringing together over 200 attendees from 14 churches and organizations — with 87.5% expressing interest in returning next year.
